And the codes just keep coming...
I have already asked about my reoccurring P1179 code, and hoping that the elusive MAF o-ring coming from Lucky8 will make a dent in that, but this morning when I went to clear my good morning P1179 from my UG, I had (2) additional codes P0300 - Misfire on multiple cylinders, and P1316 - Misfire Excessive Emissions Fault codes. Although I never noticed a misfire, I did notice the Disco seemed to be lagging a bit on one of the longer hills more than usual to the point the Disco had to downshift. I let the Disco sit for about 45 minutes, and it idled, but seemed to be missing & only at 550 RPM. A few seconds later (with no codes), and it straightened out returned to a normal 750 RPM & was fine again. I can't think of anything that would do that that I have not changed already (i.e., MAF, Air Intake Temp Sensor, Plugs, Wires, TPS, Fuel Temp Sensor, etc.).

Check and clean battery cables at battery, especially the ground , maybe remove all grounds clean and reinstall
Wen my dodge ram starts acting like this it is always fixed by cleaning the grounds, too much computer crap |

I was sitting here stewing on this & remembered the last time I had issues it was close to zero, and the temp dropped last night again; think it was 5 this morning. Wires shrink when it's cold, so perhaps the ground looses a bit more contact at these temps. If that's the case, tomorrow will suck as it's supposed to be -10 tonight. Oh boy!!! :) |
Also the cold and a poor batt can cause computer glitches not getting proper voltage , I just did my rovers grounds and smeared dielectric grease made a huge difference

Battery is new (brother cranked the old one to death!!), so I know the top end of the ground cable is good. Guess I will need to bite the bullet, fight the cold & check out the other end of the ground cable. Oddly enough, it was -7 this morning & it ran perfectly with no codes at all. Go figure... |
That ground goes to the fender then frame remove entire cable and clean all 3 ground points on cable and on rover, I also added a ground batt to read support and batt to engine also big difference

Really?? I thought it was just to the passenger's side front frame. Guess I will have to do some looking to see where the ground cable really connects. Live & learn!! |
There is another from top bolt on starter to the body mount?

Okay, I will get that one too. I was just looking & the cables aren't that expensive. I might just replace them. |
No need to replace just run the bolt through eyeson wire wheel, clean or new bolts and clean area they touch on rover
