Cool storage ideas
Never mind
|
That is pretty cool. I have stripped out all the rear of mine except the back door cover. I have to deal with some minor rust. But I picked up several items to possibly incorporate in mine as I redo it.
My new next door neighbor is a welder and body guy, so we have been talking about some custom bumpers, sliders and new wheel wells in the rear that will be awesome with the steel I recently acquired. I also gutted a few large industrial rack mounted PLC's and got a good bit of reusable items like braces, rack frames, power and ground strips already threaded, and some nicely finished panels that can be easily repurposed. There is even a collapsible work table already made up from the side of one of those huge consoles. Even picked up a stainless steel mini sink/cooler that I can mount in the rear corner and drain righ out thru the floor. That will be sweet for camping trips. |
i could make that easier than I could change a water pump.
that's some pretty minimal storage and I bet it's not cheap. looks fancy tho. i've got that steel face and black bin on my list. Some sort of retainer and it could easily hold a bag and/or box. |
Very cool stuff on their site. This is exactly the kind of thing I want to do in my Rover:

wonder if they make a black one... i suppose powdercoat would do it.
anyone make any replacement panels for the side cubbys on the trucks without the jump seats? |
All I can say is that the prices of those systems are higher than the value of the Average DI.
If you are outfitting a tactical vehicle for govt use, it may not be too expensive. But for my needs, it's way over the top and does not appear to offer anything that I truly need that much. Looks fancy but I can make do and create a whole lot more storage for a whole lot less dinero. I already mounted a 50 caliber ammo box from the Vietnam era in the left rear corner of my cargo area. The rear door offeres a lot of possibilities for mounting different items. The FJ40 front shifter box and cupholder was decent but I like my Cutty Sark Whiskey Case Console better. Caleb, let's see what you can come up with. I put that package in the mail today. |
