Disco DeCATed

Not the prettiest of weld jobs (been a while), but it works. I suspected my old CATs were shot so I cut them out. One actually looked good, but the other was a rattle can of shattered catalyst. I bolted the remaining Y-pipe pieces back on, cut sections of exhaust pipe to length, and tack welded them on. Then I pulled the pipe again and finished welding the seams. I also removed my rear resonator which made only a little difference in sound, but the deCAT made a bigger difference and it sounds great. No aftermarket exhaust needed. With all 4 O2 sensors hooked back up and driving for a few days it hasn't popped any codes yet. I've noticed no change in power, but I haven't tested it either. I drive slow and smooth usually. |
Post up a video/audio for us to hear...do it, do it now! ;-)

Are the CATS not required in Oregon?
|
Of course they are :D, but we have no inspections of any kind here in Josephine county.
|
man is that rig ever clean underneath and it is a 97 wow
|
I wish I had the ZERO INSPECTION ZONE.
You deserve it. Did you get a new alternator yet? |
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the State of Jefferson mentality here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_(Pacific_state)
"Politicians and diapers need to be changed often for the same reason" Alternator is next on the list. Looking forward to it. |
When you step on it (if you ever do) you'll notice a difference........it's starts out with a growl and eventually ends up sounding like a Kia-sewing machine. BUT, it will kick the crap out of a 4.0L J[H]eep from a dead stop. You'll now be able to de-carbon the piston tops with a good jab to the floor.....just watch out your rearview mirror.....hugh gray cloud, they'll be lucky to see what made the fog.
I did the same thing and either Spike drives like an old man or my motor puts out one more pony than his cuz I had to keep backing off while he was following me to the trails...... |
Yeah, I drive like a old man, I really do.
If I want to go fast I drive the wifes Volvo with a turbo. |
