Door lock parts
 

Tore into the driver's side door to figure out why it wouldn't lock properly. Found the plastic cam that sort of holds the lock barrel in and rotates over the switch for central lock was broken. It basically crumbled into three pieces just looking at it!

Can't seem to find this part in RAVE or rover parts places. I hope I don't need a whole new mech...

I wouldn't worry about it much butI can't lock the doors as it won't allow me to lock the door manually then close it. It always unlocks the doors again as a precaution to prevent locking your keys inside I'm guessing.

Anybody seen one for sale or have a old parts door I could strip one from? Thanks!

Get ahold of Jumper, he is parting out a '97.
I have already bought several parts off of him.

If you figure this out, lemme know. I've got the same issue and I don't want to have to buy a whole new lock. Danged plastic cam...

I had this problem with my 96 Disco. spares tell me a replacement handle kit will include these plastic bits. I wonder has anyone found a part number for these or an image/line drawing I could pattern some home made ones off? Dont want to pay A$65 for a ten cent part.

(p.s. A$65 = about U$226 at the moment) :P

I have been told that you can buy a used assy (and hope it's actually better than the one youve got) and just change the lock tumbler so you can use your original key.....maybe someone else has gone that route and will enlighten us all ......untill I fix mine it's a Chinese fire drill to lock the doors

This sounds like the same problem I had about 3 years ago. The lock assembly would turn but not move the internal mechanisms due to the broken piece. it is easy to take apart and get the actual lock cylinder out. I actuall made a new fitting using the broken one as a pattern out of stock 2" alluminum flat. I had photos but seem to have lost those. I only used a dremel tool to shape the piece and it has worked great since then. do you have a photo of the piece(s)?

I just gave up and bought the 2nd Hand assembly. $75 not $65 because it has the immobiliser switch attached. All I used was the plastic bit, but it would be pretty simple to switch the lock barrels - it just slides out once the surclip is removed.


anyone need a door handle without the plastic bit?

Sorry to revisit a 2 year old thread, but I ran into the same problem with a co-workers vehicle. I understand that the plastic is brittle for a reason... anti theft... but I created that cam yesterday in autocad, and printed one out on my 3D printer and with a little tweaking.. it works sweet!
