** UPDATE***
I took the truck in and had the drive shaft installed. Outside temp was -17 degrees and the roads have been just too nasty with ice and snow (I guess they forgot how to use a snowplow this year) cost me $100 and they had to cut 2 bolts that were damaged. Truck now runs like it should!! nice and smooth!! I took the old shaft with me so I may rebuild it as a spare or maybe it is junk. I need to look it over a little closer to tell for sure.
P.S. burnt up car is finally gone, and the kid got a nice 2004 Pacifica to replace it. Insurance messed around for 3 weeks but they did pay off.

Sounds good on both accounts, thanks for the update! Keep the rubber to the road, you'll get it right soon enough. I think it took me well over a year to iron out my truck so that it was spot on reliable. When something is neglected it takes time to rebuild. Your truck was definitely left to rot for way too long. I can finally not worry over the winters and pretty much just do minimal maintenance until the weather breaks. Then back at it until the next winter season.
