Default Engine dies after a short drive

Can i get a word of advise. 96D1 w 121k miles. After driving a short distance the engine will idle down and shut down if stopped. Any suggestions. I an thinking thermostat or mass air flow unit. Stop lights are a pain! Thanks for the word!

Won't be coolant thermostat. Coolant temp sensor faults usually make higher (richer fuel mix) idle. Could be IACV needs to be cleaned with carb cleaner, when you remove it do not adjust the pintle, just clean with spray.

Ok after an hour in my rave manual where an what is the IACV. You cannot teach stupid but the ignorant can learn!

Idle Air Control Valve page 277 of 873 in the workshop manual, and 295. You remove it, squirt well with carb cleaner, and use some carb cleaner on the bore it came out of. Don't mechanically adjust it.

Cleaned the IACV and everything else I could get to. Running much better. Thanks again for your help and guidence.
