I recently aquired a 97 Disco (Freebie)and was wondering if there are any basic engine mods I can do that will enhance power such as air filter, exhaust, etc....

I'm mainly familiar with American cars such as Fords and Chevys but I know SQUAT about Land Rovers. It hasa V8 so I'm assuming I can do the basic stuf like a K&N filter and free flowing mufflers and the like. Any suggestions? Brands?

Also, any info on suspension lifts are welcome. Ideally, I'd like to lift it enough toput 33" tires on there.

A quick synopsis. It is an all aluminum Buick engine that was developed for the 1962 Skylark 242 cu in.
Heat will kill it quick! So redo the cooling system, do not depend on the guage in the instrument cluster!
Replace spark plug wires with a good 8 mm. Replace Spark Plugs, if it is a DI the cheeap copper Champions are fine.
Fix any vacumn leaks. Make sure head gasket is good. Address all those before you do any mods.
Foirget K&N Air filter. The oil from it will kill you MAF.
With all the basics addressed on mine, it has plenty of ppower compared to when I got it.
Ensure the CDL is working if so equipped, if not equipped, mod that.
These will go well without giant lifts. If you must go with giant lift, you will need mega mods to the drive train as well as suspension.
If it is sagging and dragging, address that. With a mild lift and good tires and a working CDL that are better than any other similar vehicle.
