Fair Offer Price for a Disco 1 with some issues?
All,
I am looking at a 99' disco 1 with 159,000 miles on the clock. It has some door jam rust, but much less frame rust. I have been told that the ABS light is on (not given code) and that the lifters are ticking once the vehicle comes up to temperature. As expected, I have also been told there appear to be some oil leaks. I am willing to do wrench on this, but do not have a ton of mechanical experience. With that in mind, is there anything I should confirm when I go take a look at this that is not included in the stickied threads. I plan on bringing an OBDII scanner with me to see what codes it is throwing as well. Its listed for 2995, but it was a trade in, and I expect I could offer below 1,500. Is this a hard pass? or is there a price where this could potentially be an OK deal? Really appreciate any input. |

Let me guess the dealer is one who doesn't sell new vehicles but second hand so they bought it at an auction dirt cheap and are asking a fools price for a ticking motor they couldn't fix....... hmmm. Sounds like a really good deal. Do you own a welder?

$300-$500 is the range. Any more than that and you will be kicking yourself.

Thanks for the replies. I took the advice, and stumbled into a 04 DII I picked up for $1000.
