Flasher relay won't stop
 

Flashers weren't working. Relay would get warm if left 4-way hazard button on. Replaced relay -- new one looked a little different. Now it all works, but relay clicks constantly. It slows down a bit when braking = brake lights are on. Does not do it with key in "Accessory" so that electrical works but engine off. Does it with engine on. The trailer tirn signal light shows faintly when signalling a turn

So the lights aren't flashing because the actual hazard light switch is not on but the relay is clicking? And when the hazard light switch is on all the lights work as normal? Is this correct? And this question is for the new relay.

Correct. Turn signals and hazards work. Turn signals work in Accessory too. Hazzards work in Accessory or key-off. All correct.
But when engine is on, relay is constantly clicking. I am worried about it wearing out !

That is strange, it means that for some reason the relay is getting voltage and closing but not turning on the lights when the hazards switch if off... Sooooooo, I am thinking that the reason that the other relay was getting hot was because it too might be getting this voltage? Out of curiosity I would like to know what happens when you unplug the hazard switch itself. Its not real hard to get to so if you can let us know. There must be a short somewhere. I don't think the relay is totally at fault... Yet

Dumb question but... did you replace with a 'generic' relay or the specific flasher relay?

I was thinking along the same lines. If the relay that was installed stops clicking when the switch is unplugged then I was going to say that the switch is funky or the relay is not correct. I could not remember or didn't know if the relay for the emergency flashers was the relay and flashing unit or if the flashing unit was separate.

Relay is apparently correct --hazard / 4 way flashers and turn signals share a relay.

Clicking got intermittent last evening, and was silent this morning. Sorry, maybe it was electric parts cleaner spray I used, evaporating slowly ? Stiil, Accessory and Run position of key should have acted the same then ? Only clicked on Run.
Anyway, it might have been the brake light socket I briefly put in on right that cooked the old relay -- story is that corrosion on tail/brake socket causes extra current draw, blowing shared fuse for turn and brake lights. Any source for the screw in sockets ? Or an LED alternate tail/brake light for less draw ?

Okay, so it stopped now that's good. I don't know about the screw in sockets and I don't know about running LED lights on the disco, I haven't tried it yet.
