fuel filler vent hose

97 discovery.

i can't figure out where this little 3 feet long vent hose plugs in. there isn't anything on the tank for it. rave shows a bigger hose, maybe 3/4", going straight into the tank and i don't have that.

you have to drop the tank to get to it. Its right on top just south of the fuel pump.

tank is out! I've looked over the whole tank like 3 separate times now haha

I just had the tank out of my 96 LRDI.
That hose is an air relief hose designed to allow air to escape while fuel is entering the tank.
Mine was torn in.3 places so i replaced the whole thing.
There should be a probe above the filler neck that it fits onto.
Can you post a pic of the top of your tank?

i see where it sits on the tank but does it attach to anything?

Im a bit surprised.... there should be a probe sticking out for that hose to connect to....
My only thought could be is that the tank could be from a different model or even a different make.
Look for the mfr date and the LR Insignia, its possible the tank could have been out before you bought it??
Mybe replaced with a tank from another model or make.....
If you didnt have any issues with slow fuel fill ups or fuel splashing out, then plug the hose off airtight... only because its tied directly to the fuel neck.
Vapors and gas can escape thru that hose and be a potential fire risk or point of entry for contaminents....
