how loud are discovery 1's on the freeway?
sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm about to sell my jeep cherokee which i bought for road trips and a bit off roading but i hate it on the road. I've put about 800 bucks into sound proofing and new tires and its still to loud, too many creeks/whistles/road noise. so just wondering how these are at 65/70mph?
I'm really trying to pick up a 97 disco xd 200 miles away :D also theres no dealers with any discoverys for me to test drive either! thanks! |
The XD will be noisy because of the roof rack, obviously aggressive tires make more noise.
My truck was whisper quiet until I added the roof rack. Now it is noisy but not unbearable. Louder than a living room but quieter than a Metallica concert. Keep in mind new the truck was $45,000, how many noisy $45k cars do you know of? |
Transfer cases are gear driven and can produce a whine. Drivetrain slack is also not uncommon as it is a 4x4 and an older truck. Both of those things are not uncommon in the jeep world as well .Go test drive it coming from a Jeep I am sure you will be impressed

thank you guys for the quick reply! you've put my mind at ease! haha this one is actually missing the roof rack. so i need to make sure its got the placard in the door sill and on the radiator support.

see https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ht=sound+level where we discussed and tested noise levels and suggested some improvement areas.

My believe it or not seems to drive better at highway speed that normal roadway speeds.
