I am a cheap fool sometimes

The plastic handle of my hood release cable finally broke after 20 years. Stuff gets old, I understand, no biggie.

It is not one of those parts that effects how the truck drives/operates so I jump online and find the best 'bargain'.

The part shows up in the mail and it is labeled as a Britpart manufactured part. I know the poor reputation of Britpart but again I think to myself, "Its a cable, what could go wrong?".

Well Britpart can screw up anything. First pull on the handle after installation and the cable separates from the handle. What a crappy crimp job. For another 50 cents they could do it right, but Britpart never seems to understand that.

Lesson learned.

Don't be a cheap fool!!!

Don't feel too bad, we have ALL been F'd by a BritPart at one time or another!!! All parts from BritPart should come with :cry:
The poor 8 yr old Chinese kid that made that part must have been way tired from working a 100+ hour workweek. ;)

I too was once nailed by a britpart hood release cable. Lasted like 2 pulls during post install testing. Not cool. They generally just suck. I avoid that label at all costs. If a site has a part I need I literally call or email first to confirm brand. Never again. There’s a reason I started calling them sh!tpart.

I like a few of my britpart items, on the 110.

The headlight surrounds, the grill wiper arms, and led lights.

Ok I absolutely love the grill its freaking awesome :)

I am selective on britpart, giving a rear driveshaft for the LR3 a spin as we speak. So far so good.

As long as you have a cell phone and your AAA Card you will be fine!
Good Luck.

God bless on the driveshaft. I’d as soon make one out of toothpicks and tongue depressors before using britpart for something so mechanically critical. You might get lucky. Wish you the best.
