Default Disco1 LT230 Siezed

Hey guys,

I have a 94 discovery 1 that got huge crack in the transfer box. The fluid leaked out and caused it to lock up while driving. Had to remove drive shafts and tow the truck home. Would just replacing the LT230 fix this or do you think something else could also be damaged?

could just be the transfer case, you might have gotten lucky. Check the driveshafts to make sure they don't appear twisted. Check the diffs by getting the tires off the ground and spinning them listen for funny noises or crunchy/notchy movement

I believe you could be OK, the only other damage I could maybe forsee is mainshaft spline wear on the trans, but you would immediately notice it when changing the transfer box when you replace.

Good luck.
