How long you owned this truck? Over what period of time did you miss 1.5 quarts of fluid?

Valvoline Maxlife in my transmission.
I do a drain and fill once a year along with my driveline fluids.
I go to Tractor Supply and buy 8 qts of house brand gear lube in 85w-140.

Goofy stuff,

I am exagerating about the sound, i find it funny that the zf tranny freaks the heck out with some noise but an american th350 or th400 will let you go 2 -3 quarts with out making a whimper.......

The turbo 350 and 400 are great trannys too.
My friend in high school used to do hole shots with his Olds with the 260 V8 and a turbo 350, he would drive fast in reverse on the ice covered parking lot at the HS and then drop it into drive all the time holding his foot to the floor.
Speedo says 50mph but we were still going backwards. lol

GMs 4T60E (the transmission mated to the V6's in the midsized sedans such as my 1992 Lumina) will be fine a couple of quarts low. Shifts fine, highway speeds are fine, etc.

But if you take any sort of a left hand turn, the transmission pump sucks air, and you lose all forward gears in the front of oncoming traffic.

Ask me how I know

Sort of like Elder Abuse. My 69 Fairlane would raise the back end and smoke the tires from a standing start just by flooring the gas pedal. So would my 72 Gran Torino.

Putting it in reverse and then snatching it into gear is hardly impressive and just shortens the life of the tranny. If you hate the car that is a good way to destroy it.

Just like the kids these days that think it's cool to stand on the brake and the gas at the same time to smoke the back tires. And they think they are doing a burnout. WOW.

I think Discolife must own stock in Royal Purple and he just wants the rest of us to rush out and buy some.
At those prices, better hope there is no big leak somewhere.
