Default High idle - TPS or ECM?

I ask this because my idle is extremely random. Last night, I drove 20 miles(long ways on an island with only 40 miles of road). For about 15 miles, I had an idle around 2600rpm. I did 2 10 mile runs, of that 8 miles of each run was at 50mph. The first 10 miles and half of the second 10 miles I appeared to have an idle of 2500rpm whenever I depressed the clutch. I did notice that the idle dropped to 1500 for the last 5 miles until I pulled into my drive. Sitting in the drive, the idle dropped to 500rpm. I gave it a little throttle and the rpm went to 1500rpm. After sitting at 1500 for about 30 seconds, I gave it throttle again and it dropped to 500rpm. I tapped the throttle again(barely) and she jumped back to 2500rpm.
I either have a tps that is wacking out or the ECU is crazy. When I check the tps with my dvom(fluke 73III) I get good, smooth readings as I apply(and release) throttle. I have checked my grounds and they are all good(for some reason I have minimal corrosion and rust).

If it is not raining tonight, I will check the wiring to the ECU for continuity. Any suggestions for further testing the TPS?

I guess that's better than needing an ECM...

By the way, did you ever post pics of that Camel Cut?

Yes I did. Should be in a thread called camel cut and tire question or something. Also in my newer tire size blog thread

If you unplug the TPS it should return to normal idle.

It does not return to normal when I unplug the TPS. It does, however, return to normal when I unplug the MAF, but only for about 5 seconds before it goes back to high idle.(unless it is idling correctly, then there is no change) But I tested that thing to kingdom come and back. It never falters.

I have no idea.
If you get this figured out let us know.
You are positive there are no vacuum leaks right?

I check about e very two weeks for leaks. Have found none to date. I use a whole can of starter fluid each time.

Remove the tps start the engine, manually, turn the tps.

What this does? I have no clue.

Check your tps for ohms

I have the same issue now with high idle. So the rig has been sitting for the past 8 days or so due to the wet pads and carpet. I was listening to the radio in the rig while I was cleaning it up. The battery died and I had to jump the rig.

Will the rig run a higher idle until the battery is fully charged?

Did jumping the rig short something out?

It spikes to like 2200 rpms when it starts and then drops to around 1200 rpms. I checked the linkage and it isn't loose. I also looked around for any vacuum links and did not find any. Again I have not done anything in the engine compartment. Also when I rev the engine up it takes a bit for it to idle back down to 1200 rpms or so.

Any ideas?
