Default Mean Green Alternator

Voltage occasionally gets to 13.08 but mostly hovers in the low 12 range on the ultragauge with the replacement Autozone alternator, and have replaced it several times for bearings going out. I installed new positive & negative LR battery cables, battery, and have cleaned the ground on the starter within the last month with no effect. That being said, this morning the Disco just barely started and when it did, the UG never got above 12.03, so I'm thinking the Autozone alternator is about ready to take a crap on me again. I am thinking about getting a Mean Green Alternator as they (mean green) told me this morning they have a direct replacement alternator for the D1, but after searching, I really didn't find much about them on the forum. Does anyone have or know of someone who has installed one on a D1 who could offer some insight on whether this particular alternator would be a benefit?

My new, not reman, Denso has been putting out a constant 13.7V for a few years now.

I believe this may be the same as the one I got:

I have a MG. It came with the truck from the previous owner. With no load on it, it puts out up to 14.6v. With A/C on high, aftermarket stereo turned up, and all lights on it runs about 13.4-13.6. With 9k lb winch in action it dips to about 12.6-12.8. Had the truck about a year and have had no problems with it.

There I us a high amp rrc or defender alt that's a direct bolt up do not recall which one

My alt did the same, cleaned grounds and all that helped some, I added a ground from batt to engine and batt to read support and bam 14.07 volts no issues since, previously I kept burning out alts.

If mine goes again I will search out the stock high amp

Mean green are supposed to be nice but waaay $$$$$$$

Iirc they are like $4-500 right?

If the one in the link above is the high output stock that's the way I would go if mine were bad

The one in the link is not a HO. There are no readily available HO alternators other than Mean Green and maybe one other company. IIRC one of the P38 alternators has a higher output and works on a D1.
Don't forget the eBay specials, this one would work for my truck.

And then there's always this bad boy.

His post says he needs reliability, which I linked him to, not high output.

GEMS P38 Range Rover alternators work too, and are 120 amps instead of 100 for D1. I don't know of any cheap sources for new ones though.

Well I found this:
Amazon.com: NEW ALTERNATOR LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER DEFENDER 3.9 4.0 4.6 120 AMP AMR2938: Automotive Amazon.com: NEW ALTERNATOR LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER DEFENDER 3.9 4.0 4.6 120 AMP AMR2938: Automotive

Title says 120 amp and that it's the GEMS RR version, but description says 100 amp. Either way it's a good price if it's actually new and not reman

Fish that 160 amps what I'm talking bout, with led light bars low power consumption not sure why you would need more unless your running a mini fridge or something
