Not Cranking Over

Aloha everyone!

My 98 Disco was running great, no problems starting up until this morning. In my opinion, it has been very reliable.

The nitty gritty:

Try to start the engine, but it wont engage or startup. Put a meter to it and nothing comes up. Fuel is good, at least I smell it. I changed all 8 spark plugs after it wouldn't start and it is getting spark. The last thing is compression, but not sure on that one.

Right now I decided to let it sit awhile, and I will try it again this afternoon. Any suggestions that I may have forgotten to look at?

Chris

Dead battery. Weak battery. Poor ground strap connection.

If you mean that it will not turn over - that starter does not run at all, then search for electrical issues.

If cranks but no spark, look at crank position sensor being bad.

Battery good, checked that. The starter is not the issue I believe, so I will look at the crank position sensor.

Thanks.

Not to sound too ignorant, why would it go out, and how can I see if it is bad? Just replace it? And if I have spark, doesn't that control the spark? I definitely have spark.

Crank, crank over, turn over all mean the starter is turning the engine over.
Not starting means something TOTALLY different than not cranking over.
Not cranking over would mean the battery is dead/bad or the starter is bad.

Now saying that it turns (cranks) over but will not start means it has to either be a fuel or spark issue.
You have spark, so it must be a fuel issue.
Buy or rent a fuel pressure tester and check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail.
It needs to be in the low to mid 30's.
