Question about fuel pump job
 

I searched a bit. about 5 pages, but questions about my 1997 D1 (I think it is AEL) but I am not sure.

I read the Airtex 3270 will work, is that with all D1's or does it matter if it is pre 1997.5 non AEL or post 1997.5 AEL? I am talking about just the pump itself, not the whole apparatus.

Also, where can you get the pressure fittings to barb? like someone described.. He said: get 5/16 to barb push to connect fittings, and I cant seem to find them, but maybe I just don't know what they are called.

I bought some for my motorcycle, and they work great.

My fuel pump sending unit has two push to connect type and they are so rusted, I am afraid to touch them.

That pump should work regardless of Advanced EVAP or not.
I cut off the push-to-connect fittings and used a barb to compression fitting to attach the flexible fuel line to the nipples on top of the pump. But maybe you could use something like this? McMaster-Carr

Inside the sending unit you probably won't be able to reuse the flexible straw that runs from the pump to the top of the unit. Use fuel injection line and fuel injection clamps to secure it. Be careful on the orientation of the clamps so they don't touch metal and short something out. Put a loop in the line to allow for when the sending unit compresses on install.

Also, plan on replacing the sealing ring and possibly the securing ring for the fuel pump at the tank.

Thanks, that was just what I needed. I ordered a fuel pump and some fittings. I can't get the rusty ring off , but I sprayed it with lube and let it soak while I wait on parts. I did find at NAPA a 5/16 to barb compression fitting, and I bought it, but I don't know if it will work. It's for GMC trucks, anyone try one? Are all compression fittings the same?

5/16" is 5/16", don't see why it wouldn't work. :)
I used a punch and a 3lb sledge to beat the retaining ring off. It was really on there.
