Radio Code Issues / Pulled Radio No Stickers

So I recently had my car in for service and got her back with the radio stating CODE. This is my 3rd rover and understand the procedure for entering and acquiring the factory code but for this one I think I'm SOL at least thats what the dealer stated.

Here is the issue I currently have:
- First I gave the dealer my VIN number and they could not look the code up.
- Then pulled the radio to get the numbers off it for them to call LR, but all the stickers have been removed.

I have been reading the posts regarding radio CODE issues but have not come across such a post. I really want the factory radio to work as I will probably have the car restored in a year or two since it is a 1996 5 Speed and I want to keep it around for a long time. Any suggestions? Any reset methods?

Thanks!

My only suggestion is that you buy a different OEM stereo with the code and install that one.
LR has been cleaning up computer space by deleting old info that is no longer needed.
Lets face it, 99% of DI's no longer have the OEM stereo.
Hell, most dealers dont even have repair manuals for the DI anymore.

And they discontinued stocking a lot of parts as well!.

Pull that old thing out and put a good one in! An original one sells for a rediculous price.

Actually we can pull up the radio code if you have the sticker that has the serial number on it. At that point the dealer has to call a special number and give LR tech line the number and they look it up from their info. I suggest if the serial number is listed there then drop it off to the dealer service advisor and he can look up the number at his leisure. He might be busy with clients and the call might take a bit. But that is the last ditch effort.

The serial number sticker was the hardest to remove if I recall. if it has been removed then you are screwed.

Does anyone know if you can get the CODE from the ink-stamped number from inside the stereo? I have an extra OEM radio but the serial number sticker is missing and unsure of originating VIN. Here's a"number" inside the radio though, unsure if it's something that can be traced
