Replacement Blower Motor Options??
 

My Disco's blower motor bearings/bushings are shot. I didn't find much in the way of aftermarket blower motors, Atlantic British wants $347 for a new one, which I'm not really keen on spending right now. Questions:

1) Are there replacable/removable bushings or bearings inside the blower motor?
2) Other options other than "used" off Ebay?

Have you tried to oil the bearings in it?
You drill a small hole in the bearing housing and lube it with either 3-in-1 oil or motor oil.

I tried a couple local parts stores and a couple on-line stores. Aftermarket blower motors were not available where I looked, what I DID see were motors for $350 on up. But I can't say I turned over EVERY rock. That's why I was hoping someone here might have some info.

As far as lubricating, I haven't pulled mine out yet. Do the blower motors have ball bearings, or bronze bushings? Bearings I can deal with probably easier, bushings make it tougher. I've never had any luck lubricating bronze bushings. Usually they are silicone impregnated for lubrication and when they wear to the point of vibrating (making noise) lubricating helps for a few hours or maybe a couple days at most, then it's back to vibrating. On one vehicle I had once that had an expensive blower motor, I compressed the blower motor bushings in a press and then re-drilled the hole, but even that only fixed it for a couple months. If the blower motors contain ball bearings I might be able to replace. Just wondering what you guys have done. Maybe buying a used one is a good option.

I buy lots of stuff from these guys (local so I dont pay shipping) and they are great on prices and service.
If ever they do not list what you need on the site then call them, they get cars in all the time but dont list them on the site for a week sometimes.
