Seat Support

I replaced the seat support in my driver's seat about 6 months ago after the original broke - today the passenger let go - besides the rubber part that is stupid expensive anyone come up with another way or can the original be fixed to last ?

I got the rubber diaphragm from UKAR Auto for not much money (part BA4530). A bit more than a tank of gas now. Before it got fixed, a pillow got stuffed under there, one of those stiff sofa pillows. Just mind the relays and such. The original units get torn apart, so doubtful if they are repairable, too much stress, as you can imagine.

Thank JZ - the part is now pushing $150 - my old timey upholstery shop thinks they can fix the original to last for $35 - worth a shot - passenger seat doesn't get much use - I remember when I bought the seat cushion replacement foam for $80 and they included the rubber diaphragm for free - LOL - my how parts people have gotten greedy

ratchet straps will do the trick in place of the rubber diaphragm, and it is adjustable too.

I was even thinking about large rubber bungie straps - that would be my on the road solution

My first D1 had the ratchet straps under the seat, I couldn't figure out why it sat so high until I looked underneath. I loosened them a bit so I had more headroom.

my upholstery guy did a great job with the repair on original for $30 - just can't get over $150 for the rubber diaphragm part - crazy

I've used an 18wheeler mudflap with paracord before.
