Tire Check

Yes, I know, another "Which tires should I get..." post. :)

I have mostly decided on which tire I want (Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx 235/85/r16), but my main questions are:

With an OME 2" HD lift (shocks + springs), will a 235/85/r16 fit without any adjustments (steering stops, etc.)?

Will that narrow of a tire be OK with a fully-loaded compliment (roof rack gear + 4 adults)?

Cheers,

- Chris

That tire is no narrower than the stock tire on a D1. The width doesn't really have much to do with load carrying capacity. 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks have been known to come with that size tire.

OK. Then I suppose it should be fine.

I don't want giant tires; just something that will fill the wheel wells a little better with the 2" lift, but continue to perform fine on and off road with no major mods.

As far as the tire brand, I like the Cooper. It looks good and the quality seems good. Also, Spike has talked it up a bit and all the reviews I have read support his endorsement.

You'll probably want to do some minor trimming on the back of the rear wheel fenders.

Out on the Internets I've seen both "must cut" and "not necessary" so I guess I'll just have to go for it and see. :)
