VSS & Cruise Control question

Hey all!
(new to me )'99 Disco i
Cruising down the highway at 70mph, after about 15 minutes or so, the speedo "bounces" to 90, and the motor cuts-out. it's very intermittent, and always comes right back on (so far... fingers crossed)

Also related (I think): The Cruise Control does not work.

Using the search function here, this looks to be a problem with the VSS?

What do y'all think?

And because "VSS" is too short to search with, I'm going to include some search words for the next unlucky sap:
vehicle speed sensor speedometer

cruise control is a seperate vacuum system, check the hoses for leaks is the easiest plave to start. Does your CC button work in the cabin? mine are completely shot and you can see where PO tried to fix with duct tape and all other forms of foolishness, something I plan to fix but a very low priority. If you search through my threads I posted pictures of what mine looks like.

V S S is going bad, acts as speed governor
