Worth buying to part out?

I ran across a '95 Disco, owner wants $500. Its in rough shape and 154k miles. Was thinking of buying it to grab some parts off of. Best thing going for it is the fact that it's a 5 speed. Lots of broken interior plastic pieces, seats are in bad shape, under body rust, mid pipe back fell off. Engine runs but doesn't sound super healthy. It does drive. Looking for best and worst case $ scenario as a parts vehicle. Thanks for your input.

Add up the used parts value for the parts your would keep. Factor in what you could sell off it and what you might get for scrap. Keep in mind some of the 3.9 engine parts won't be compatible with 4.0 engines.
Where are you located?

tell him you will give him 100 more than scrap value...

edit: but yes worth buying imo. scrap yards around here rarely have disco 1's and dealer parts are $. If you have the room for it make a deal with him...

Yea won't be hard to make your 500 back. Might take awhile though. One thing that does suck is that someone will inevitably want a part that's hard to pull. Then you spend 2 house pulling this part to make 50 bucks. Maybe. Then you have to weigh how crippled you want to make the truck. Our scrap guys always want them to roll. I've had a hard time getting someone to take a non rolling truck.

It would be worth it to buy it and keep it even if you spend 2000 to restore it you'll have a new 1995 landy

Price out the parts you want and price out any other parts you could potentially sell off of it and go from there.
