Does your truck get up to temp? Does the gage read in the middle of C & H? If it stays on the cold side then it is most likely your thermostat stuck open. If the gage is reading normal and you have no heat it may be a vacuum door is stuck closed to allow the heat to come through into the cab. Anybody else have any ideas?

I haven't climbed under my dash in the rover yet, but in other cars i've had you can lay under there and turn the **** that controls the temp and listen to hear if it is opening and closing. Makes kind of a whoooshing sound. Maybe one of the other guys knows a better way to check.

Here's what my Rave cd says about the heater and how it works. Read the last part about the heater blowing cold air. Hope this helps.

Air direction flap
Flap moves across mixing chamber to direct the air
flow away from the heater matrix.
Air temperature flap
Control at HOT, flaps fully closed. All air flow passes
through heater matrix. As control is moved towards
COLD the flaps progressively open directing air flow
away from the heater matrix.
Control at COLD, flaps fully open.
V8 Engine: When both controls are at COLD, 2
micro-switches are closed and operate a vacuum
valve which closes the coolant valve.
Air conditioning
When an air conditioning unit is fitted, the mechanical
operation of the heater controls remains unaltered.
However the air conditioning evaporator is positioned
in front of the mixing chamber through which all air
flow passes.

Symptom:-Heater
emits cold air.

1. Engine running: Check coolant valve opens as a
temperature control is moved from COLD.
2. Check for engine running cold. See COOLING
SYSTEM, Fault diagnosis, Engine Runs Cold
3. Check heater pipes and hoses for blockage or
restriction.
4. Check heater matrix for blockage or restriction,
flush system.
Heater emits warm air.
5. Engine running: Check coolant valve closes
when both temperature controls are moved to
COLD.

I feel your pain, when I got my rover in November the previous owner had cut my heater core right out. I froze! Not to mention no defrost! So I bought a used one online for $100 and my mechanic charged me $300 to put it in, which wasn't bad because he showed me the book and it showed 8 hours labor to replace. Granted, I still almost fell over backwards but alot cheaper than the dealer. Good luck with yours, if all fails you can always put a pot belly stove in the back

hi
I can also understand you. I have the disco1 and three weeks ago my heater radiator broke, all the coolant ran in the car, had my stereo soaking wet (got a new one) and the weather here in Greece is from 0 - 10 degrees celsius. I got a new radiator and replaced it on my own. The job wasnt difficult but more of a puzzle i'd say. Now it is fine, it took me about 4 days to finish as I only could work in the afternoons after work.
