2" Lift Done w/ Pic

1 Attachment(s)
Got out of Easter dinner with In-laws yesterday and took advantage of the beautiful weather to finally get my lift in. Did a 2" Terrafirma MD Lift with +2" shocks and Toddco 2" spacers. Everything went smoothly, had to tap the holes under my air springs with 10x1.5 tap but I expected it from reading other lift/conversion posts. Took 3.5 hours total. Was able to get springs in without dropping driveshaft by using ratchet straps to compress. Love the way it looks, waiting for my Terra Grapplers to wear out a bit more then putting some 265/65-18 Duratracs which are 31.5x10.7. Gained exactly 1.75" all around by tweaking the angle of the SLS sensor extensions. It was amazing to see how much the rear actually effected the front as far as ride height. Feels great on the road too.

I originally purchased rear springs and conversion kit then decided to keep the SLS and put in new air bags. I am looking to sell the rear springs and conversion kit if anyone is interested PM me.

Very nice. Just ordered the Terra Firm 2" MD spring kit myself from Justin at Lukcy8. Looking forward to doing the same project myself.

Yeah, very nice. Looking forward to getting my 2" lift installed... hopefully within the next couple weeks. I've got 255/60 18s (General Grabber AT 2s) on there now, but will be going a bit larger after the lift. Hate to be spending more money on tires since the ones on there now only have a few thousand miles on them, but I don't think I will be able to hold off... gotta fill the wheel well! Decisions, decisions...

I had the same dilemma, I actually bought the lift about a year and a half ago and was waiting for the Nittos to wear out to the point I could justify new tires. 50k on them and they still have 6/32 left so I'll roll around on them for another month and get the Duratracs before the $60 rebate offer expires the end of May.

I've got just over 7,000 miles on my Grabbers and they've been installed for over 2 years. I'll be a very old man if I wait for these to wear out, so going to try and sell them on craigslist and recoup a little of the money I spent to put toward a new set. I love the look of the Duratracs and may end up going with them myself. How did you decide on going with 265/65 18s and not 275/65s or 285/65s? I've read so many tire threads (and lift threads) and have looked at so many pictures that I am continually going back and forth between sizes. I do like the look of the wider stance, but guess you could accomplish that with some wheel spacers? Also, if you have a 2" lift AND 2" coil spacers how do you only end up with 1.75" of lift? Sorry if it's obvious, but I'm new to the whole lift thing and would initially think you'd end up with quite a bit more than 1.75".

I settled on the 265/65-18 based on my driving habits, I considered the 255/70-18 Duratracs as I want to keep a bit narrower for snow driving which I tend to do a lot of in the winter when I head up to NH to snowboard. But I also want to keep a decent MPG, I'm getting almost 19 on the highway. Also wanted to minimize any additional stress on my gears, hubs, driveshafts and brakes so the 265/65 seemed to be the best compromise to meet all of my needs. I have SLS so the 2" spacers are only under my airbags in the rear. The only springs I have are the front 2" lift springs, no spacers under those. Sorry my first post sounded like I did 4".

I see. Thanks for clarifying... so much, for me, seems to get lost in translation when I'm reading through these threads and I hate to just "assume" something. 19 miles/gallon... nice. I'm not anywhere close to that and will surely only get worse after the lift/larger tires & HD front bumper... oh well.
