RE: 2000 Discovery Sunroof Leak
Hi, First of all, check the rubber seal is clean and seated properly, sometimes if they are dirty, they stop the glass "mating" properly and then it leaks. So remove the seal and clean all around the seal fitting area etc, and re-fit it, then see how it goes.
Failing that, its quite common for the drains to snap off the tray at the corners and then let water where ever it wants to go, usually the sunvisor. To fix this you would need to "release" the headling to at least pull it down to have a look.
heres a good article on the issue for a D1, but its the same setup in a D2, it will show you the drains, and also that it "can" be the sunroof trayto body seal that is pooped

heres another good link if the drains are snapped off

RE: 2000 Discovery Sunroof Leak
If you check everything the Urban told you and it still leaks let me know.
There is a local rover guy here in Asheville NC (if you are willing to make the drive) and he is really good. But I'm sure there is SOMEONE in Charlotte who specializes in rovers, or at least sunroofs. For the most part a dealer wont kill you to bad for a sunroof repair, but I know what you mean by trying to avoid it at all costs.
