2002 HSE - won't start after electrical issue
So here is what happened...
On a very warm day (85* F) I was driving my RR home after work (parked for 10 hrs in the sun) and within 8 miles of driving the windsheild wipers started working on their own, I attempted to turn them off and after a short period, they did (thinking I caused the issue, I dismissed it as my bumbling) then after about 2 mins, they came back on! Then the warning buzzer came on! (steady)...then the horn! (steady). So as I was pulling into my driveway, the wipers, horn and buzzer where all activated and very noisy (neighbors not amused). I popped the hood (bonnet for you English folk) and the horn stopped. I then closed the hood again, and the horn came back on and something was smoking!! I ran to grab tools and disconnected the hot lead to the fuse block...that worked and all electrical issues stopped. I then waited for a little while and reconnected the battery. Everything seemed to work, including the alarm which went off caused by my previous use of a key to enter the door (due to the power being disconnected), but it would not start. Now here I am on a Range Rover forum asking for some guidance and luck in trying to fix the bloody thing... |
