2003 Disco II intermittent starting and front wiper issues
 

I have 2003 Disco that intermittently starts. I tried steering wheel trick, put car in neutral, replaced battery, cleaned terminals on both ends, and reset inertia switch.

When I turn key I get all function as normal starting, but when I go to crank it I get nothing no sound just dead. After a few tries of turning key back and forth and sometimes holding it down it will start.

I'm leaning towards start relay or new inertia switch?

I also have a problem with front wipers. It will take them awhile to get going and when they do they sometimes do go back down when I turn them off.

I'm thinking wiper motor or stalk switch?

Usually the slow to pull in the cranking relay is related to the ignition switch.

Inertia switch can be bypassed with a jumper to check. If inertia switch is open fuel pump stops.

Starter relay controlled by the Body Control Unit, which interfaces with alarm to prevent starting.

Wiper problem is usually the stalk switch.
