Default 265/75r16 and my spider gears

Ok I'm gonna do it. I'm finally gonna settle on a set of tires. I'm going with the 265/75r16 Guard Dogs from Treadwright. But I hear a lot of talk about wearing out of spider gears with bigger tires. Granted these aren't huge (no reason to have obnoxious tires on my truck), but is there any need to worry about wearing out any gearing with this size tire. Also, someone mentioned retreads being heavier than regular tires of the same size. Any truth to that statement?

Alot depends on what type of driving/off-roading you do. Thats the size I have on my '04, and I don't bat an eyelash. But, mine see's about 50% street, and the off-road consists of woods trails, mud, little rock and hillclimbs, nothing remotley xtreme.

When you gotta worry about breakage is if you get real twisted up in rocks while goin heavy on the right foot.

Yea no I don't really plan on doing much. Some friends of mine wheel, and I may go out with them every once in a while, but I don't plan on wheeling much. I have only taken mine out once, and that consited of a dirt road, and one EASY trail. Definitely no crazy rock crawling twisting everything up...maybe a little wading/mudding, but that would be it. Any tires will see about 95% road time.

I agree, lite to moderate driving and you will be fine for awhile.
What about your front drive shaft, has it been rebuilt yet? Have you installed a lift yet? 265's don't work well off road on a stock suspension.

Front drive shaft has been rebuilt, but I think I'm eventually just gonna go with a Tom Woods or something similar. I plan on installing a 3" TF lift as soon as I have the money to get that done. It's just time for tires and I figured I may as well get the ones I'm gonna use for now. It's not my daily driver anyways, so I'm thinking I can get away with no lift for a bit.
