275/75/18 tire pressure???
 

Hey guys,

I got new bfg ko2 AT in 275/75/18 this winter but I am a little unsure of proper tire pressure. I don't want to wear my tires out unevenly cup/scalp etc. What tire pressure should I stick to? Factory tire pressure for oversized tires?

Just stick with whatever the sidewall of the tire says the max tire pressure is. They do pretty extensive testing on tires to get the best tread life out of them.

Max tire pressure?! Is this a daily driver or is it heavily laden with gear? Unless this is a workhorse, and is always loaded with near the max carrying capacity, I would never run max pressure.
I would recommend trying 80% of that pressure, then doing a chalk test on various pressures around that to see what works best.

Alex, that is not even close to what should be run on larger, those posted numbers are the factories idea to give you the best ride, not the best traction and wear.
Most mid to large size tire should be running around 40 pounds all the way around which can then be dropped to around 18 for some hard playing.

Around 40PSI is about what I run on my 265/75/16 Load range Es. Next time I am going to drop to Cs for a better ride around town given my off road adventures don't happen as often as I would like.

I thought you are supposed to keep tires inflated according to the Land Rover manufacturing specs for the vehicle as cited on the sticker inside of your door. The only thing the tire will tell you is a max load rating. I was watching the news yesterday and a service rep for roadside assistance reminded me of this

That holds true only if you are running the same size tires that your vehicle originally came with. Even then if you go on an off road adventure it would be wise to air them down a bit, or air them up if carrying a heavy load.

When you switch to a different size tire, the door sticker pressures no longer apply. You can use them as a starting point, but you will have to experiment to find the best pressures for wear and comfort.

My 10 ply tires wear best at 50-60PSI, but the ride at that pressure is horrible. 40PSI makes for a more comfortable ride, and I am willing to trade comfort for wear.

Load Range "C"s
 

You should never run "C" rated tires on your top heavy Disco. I have "E"s on my truck which at 35 are still pretty rough riding, I would suggest you go to a good "D" rated, 8 ply for a good compromise.

My bfg at ko2 are load range "E", you run 35psi? Is that what your suggesting would be a good pressure to run withough compromising wear?
