295/75/16
It's new tire time soon. I've owned 285/75/16, 255/85/16 and 265/75/16. Planning on trying out 295/75/16. It's a kinda rare size but doesn't seem anymore expensive than 285/75/16. The size is roughly 33.5/11.5/16 so basically an inch taller than 285/75/16 with around the same width. I would love to see a D2 running this size before purchasing. Thanks for any help.
FYI 3" RTE lift with an extra 1" in back. I'll be running stock D2 wheels with .25 spacers for rub in front. Cheers.....oh and yes I've got the 4.11 diff gears. |
Maybe I'm missing something, but a 285 v 295 almost seems like a lateral move :dunno:
Good Luck! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...48b1d20c1c.png |
As OverRover is showing, you are only going to gain about 0.5 inches over all size difference, which is actually only 1/4 inch difference in axle height. Seems like a waste of time, unless you are getting a smoking deal or something

He said no cost difference, so why the hell not?
|
Because when he ruins one and now cant get a replacement easily because its a wacko size, its gonna blow.
also, he thinks he is gaining an inch. He isn't, and even if he was gaining an inch, its not an inch the way he thinks it would be. If he wants a fancy unique tire size with no positive benefit, go for it |
Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't trying to start a tire debate. I'm asking if anyone has this size on a D2 and if so, I'd love to see a pic. I wasn't asking anyone's opinion on weather or not I should get these tires or not. Thanks for any help.
And just so we are clear, that tire size calculator is approximate. We all know tires are all different sizes. The actual model I'm looking at is measured at 33.7X11.8x16. Super Swamper makes a 285/75/16 that is actually 34/11.5x16. sizes are all over the map until you go to the source.I have done my research and I'm very familiar with different sizes and what they'll do on a D2. And regarding "ruining" a tire well thats what my spare would be for. |
Just google "pictures of discovery ll with 285/75 tires" you'll get thousands. Your not going to see an inch or 1/2 inch difference in a picture anyway.

when going that big of a tire, don't forget about if your spare will fit on the back.
No biggie though, the trunk is huge  |
