4 Amigos
Well, after all this time reading other posts about the 3 and 4 amigos and wondering what you guys were talking about....they finally showed up!
I own a 2004 Disco with 42,000 miles and I now can join the club!
I went to the dealer and they are saying that it is either a wheel sensor ($600 per wheel) or the ABS modulator ($3K to $4K). All I can say is "ouch"!
Any thoughts on this? I love the Disco but enough already!!!!!

Yeah, they would tell you that... If you already took the DII to the dealer and they diagnosed "those" problems, then you should be able to call them up and ask them for the specific fault-codes that led them to their diagnosis. Be firm and get those codes. Then post up the codes so that we can give you an unbiased (not financially motivated) opinion.
Could be something as simple as crappy brake-pads...

I haven't had them diagnose yet. I will do that next week! I will get the codes from them and post the results. I am not sure if the brakes are original since I am the second owner but they are starting to squeel slightly! On the positive side, the lights on the dash do light up the cab nicely at night!

Mike,
The Disco was fine last week until I took it to the body shop to have the front bumper replaced due to a crack in the middle. My Disco is an S but I like the look of the SE with fog lights so I replaced it with that. I still have to install the dashboard swith for the foglights this next week. The body replaced the front bumber and hooked up the fog lights etc. and washed the vehicle. When my wife turned the key, bam! The 4 amigos were there along with a hellatious brake squeal when she backed up! After driving for a few miles, the squeal went away. I did notice last night that if you put slight pressure on the brake peddle, there is a small squeal when barely moving.
Is this a coincidence?

Just what I thought, the 4th brake light is on because you are low on fluid, because your brakes are most likely warn out.
So, that being said, how mechanical are you? Can you do your own brake job, which will need to be done before you try and clear the codes.? You will save a lot of money.

I had the 3 amigo's on and off with a brake squeal. I bought a spray can of anti squeak stuff from an auto supply place and there is no longer any sound with the brakes and NO 3 amigo's. Need to take off the brake shoes, spray the back of them (Or brush on the same stuff) then re install brake shoes.
