My tip is do it your self I was charged $885 at the steeler for a $280 fuel pump, but I was out of town and had no choice. I know it is in the tank and it must be dropped. Good luck!

In the back under the carpet you have a cover
take it off and its right there buy the kit it will have all the
little parts you need.

Check out parts suppliers on the forum.
www.roverparts.com have a tip section and the fuel pump kit.

I bought the kit from Atlantic British for $209 and I'm gonna go get to it today. I've talked to a good mechanic who has pretty much walked me through the whole thing. So I'm pretty confident.

OK listin very closly, gonna save you a crap load of cash here...

Under the carpet in the rear there is a hatch, remove the screws and you will see the pump in the tank, remove the ring with a SMALL hammer and a flat screwdriver.

now the saving money part, go to autozone or something close to that type of store, have them search for part #E3270, is a MASTER (brand) fuel pump, it willl only be the pump not the pickup assembly. Dissamble the one in the D1, not hard remove a hose and a plug, then put the new one in. Its a $80 part with a lifetime warranty.

thank me later;)

I like your style mikemeyer i was about to do the same exact thing as you said. Funny how great minds think alike. I already bought the part and was just waiting for my pump to go bad to do that.

Thanks for the tip mikemeyer. Unfortunately, I already spent the $209 at Atlantic British. I'll definitely keep that part # on hand for next time. So I put the new pump in yesterday and, aside from having to hammer out 6 rusted and stripped out screws, it was one of the easiest things I've done to any vehicle. Now, I've gotta back out to the cold street and put in my new used front prop shaft. Gotta love a used and neglected Disco. Poor Rover never got any love before he met Me.

Buy a junkyard pump or new one, which ever, go to a private mechanic, with the cost of the pump i had mine installed for around 350.
