'97 Disco Key Fob Reprogramming
 

I disconnected my battery today on my '97 Discovery the key fob stopped working, how do i reprogram it? I searched old threads but they all say to look in the owners manual, I don't have one. Can anyone help me? Thanks

The key does not need to be reprogrammed. There is not a computer chip in the '97 key.
Or are you talking about the keyless remote?

yes, sorry i thought the keyless remote was also a key fob. But yes the remote is what needs to be programmed. Thanks,

Unlock the trk with the key and then lock it with the keyfob at least four times.

That didn't workthe remote won't lock it after i unlock it with the key, is there something i need to do to initate the relearn? should it disconnect the battery again?

Are you sure the battery is in right? Is the remote bad and not the battery?

OH no i disconnected the truck battery to clean a terminal in the fuse block not the remote battery The remote worked fine before I disconnected the truck battery. I thought i would just have to unlock the radio when i hooked the batt. back up but apparently i need to resync or program the remote.

Do the lock sequence using the key in the door. I started to look last night, but didn't get back on.

Also, have you replaced the battery in your fob? I thought I read somewhere that if your lights didn't flash while locking or unlocking, you may have a battery going bad in the fob.

I'll see if I can search later if that doesn't work.

I have disconnected my battery more than once and I have not had to reprogram my remote.
