Just curious how many miles you have on it.
If you have a black coolant bottle, replace it ASAP, they all fail at some point and the last thing you want is to be looking at a junk over heated engine.

There is a bleed screw on top of your radiator, if yours is the same as mine.. Open it and fill it up. Start the truck with the heater on high. Once your truck starts to get warm (your t-stat opens) make sure the fluid is topped off and put the screw back in. Fill the expansion tank and keep your eye on it. Be careful with the bleed plug on the radiator. It is plastic and can break.

Thanks again everyone for all your help, everything is all better now. I ran down there again and located the bleeder screw. I removed it and saw coolant filled all the way to the top. I next located and replaced the thermostat. I buttoned everything back up again andfillerthe coolantthrough the bleeder openeing. I then filled the reservoir and took it for a test drive. I started out with the heater on as suggested and it didn't take long for it to heat up as it was still 103 degrees outside... it got uncomfortable quite fast. I then switched to A/C, which is how I had been testing it before, and the air got cooler but the engine remained the same.

Should I be concerned about purchasing this Rover at all? This is the 3rd time it left me sitting in less than 3 months. I guess the silver lining... I now have 3 brand new parts in it that shouldn't fail again any time soon (fuel pump, expansion tank, and thermostat).

Usually people sell rovers because they have some big ticket items coming up. Save a few hundered for things like this, but like you said, THose are things you know are good now. I am about to the "everything is good" stage, and haven't spent more than $700...

Keep your change tins full and don't sweat it.

Don't be concerned, you have just been working out the bugs.
Go enjoy a trail or two now.
