99 discovery heat and air not working

i just recently bought a 99 disc2. i am in the middle of sorting it out. i cant get the heat or air to work and the fan doesnt come on either. Its not the fuses they look fine. i checked out the fan with a direct jump and it worked but its wont come on inside the car. ok gurus please help me out. i never had a car where both heat and air didnt work:eek:

Sounds like the control system in your dash is shot, does it give you any readings when you turn it on?

heat and air

thanks mike and all the reading work. its shows temps and fan speeds. it just doesnt run fans and nothing comes on.

i pulled out the glove box to get access and all the connections looked good and tight with no rust or corrosion. the vent box opens and closes from the control panel just no blower

Start by replacing the fan, there are threads on this problem which is very common on DII's.
Because it is a variable speed van there is a regulator on it that burns out and then the fan wont work.
If that is not it then the HVAC control panel is bad.
But the fan is the more likely culprit.

i took the blower motor out and ran a direct current into it and it ran. what does the regulator look like? and where is it located.? thanks for the help. if that isnt it ill take out the control

The regulator is near the fan, it will have cooling fins on it.
Look for a new one on line and then once you know what it looks like you will find it in the truck.

heat and air not working

after changing the radiator and water pump i am back to the heat and air. i check both relays and their both clicking when fan speeds change . i did find the regulator( metal fins) it was concealed in the duct. So how do i trouble shoot it. what do i look for?:D . thanks again.

by regulator do you mean blower motor resistor pack? Because mine went out in my bmw and it kind of sounds like the same problem he's having.
