After lift issues
I installed the terrafirma HD conversion kit from RN around Christmas. When looking at the front you can very easily see that it leans toward the passenger side pretty hard.
The springs came labeled ds and ps and I installed them that way. I've heard that sometimes it is to compensate for the drivers weight but it doesn't make much difference with 200lbs in the driver seat. Is this normal with those lifts? I'm also running a BPofU front driveshaft and since the lift at times I can hear it making a very soft thumping sound as it rotates. Some days it does and somedays it doesn't. Could this be caused by the tilt my lift has created? |
look for rubbing of shaft on cat and crossmember, check the slip joint grease zerk...is it knocked off?
make sure springs are seated properly....spun to the stops in the perch. |
Springs are seated perfect and I have not noticed it touching the crossmember at all.
I'll check to see if the cats rubbing and pump a little more grease in her. |
2 things
What's the exact difference? Should be half an inch. Yes definitely check the cat, there may be marks from the grease zerk. |
I have a TF 2" lift and I do not have that problem. Did you get both front and rear springs? If so then make sure you didn't put a rear spring up front.
|
well, I would have to say it is not normal. mine was pretty close left to right. I did use some spacers to have it sit the way i wanted front to back. that is an option.
have you measured from hub center to arch? what is the differrence in the measurement? |

and they wouldn't screw onto the perch. |
I have a little over a half an inch difference. Why such the big difference? I mean I know a half an inch doesn't sound like much, but what guy wants to be shorted a half inch anywhere in life?
Also just checked everything around the driveshaft and it has plenty of clearance between it and everything else. It also helped me realize this cold weather is working my gaskets over big time! Looks like I've developed a transmission leak and rear main leak....SWEET! This is all so exciting after discovering a coolant leak at the back of the motor on the passenger side on my 99 last weekend. And there I was getting so close to the quarter million mile mark with it! |
but you have 2 extra inches of clearance to work under there now
