Aftermarket SAI pump is LOUD.

Kept getting 1414/1417 codes on my 2004 SE. Turns out the pump was frozen up solid. So I got this, but now I'm debating whether to return it. It's SO LOUD! It sounds like someone's mixing pina coladas under the hood every time I start it up. I mean, people turn and look. I've read in other posts that these can be noisy, but dang... how loud is too loud?

On the upside, the Check Engine light has so far stayed off.

Is the crappy foam filter installed in it?
If it is installed, the SAI pump only runs for a minute or two. I'd leave it be since that is the normal noise.

BTW... that's a good price.

Got a video? You may only think its loud because your pump was never working you never got to experience the GLORY of the the vacuum cleaner under your hood. They are loud as ****, but shouldnt sound like a blender. Imagine a loud vacuum, and that's about right

I was thinking that too. Lol

My 04 is a little loud, but I also have it connected via 3 bolts vs those rubber studs that always die. I like the sound personally and it’s just for a few minutes on a cold start.

I think you called it: the pump had never worked before & it was a bit startling at first to hear. Several days in, I don't really even notice.

Thanks!

Apologies resurrecting a dormant thread - @Best4x4 any downsides mounting with bolts rather than the rubber mounts?

You'll get a lot of vibration if you use something that doesn't have damping.

Yes, you need to use the rubber mounts or they are loud. I once had an 03 without mounts that had dry rotted... and it was very loud / made alot of vibration noise as well.

Noted, thanks fellas.
