Default Air intake hose behind air flow meter keeps disconnecting

It's happened twice now. First time I was four wheeling with friends and had just come to a very steep section of a low speed hill climb, when I accelerated, the truck suddenly died. Long story short, we eventually noticed that the corrugated plastic flex hose that goes from the air flow / air mass meter, had come apart right behind the air mass meter. Pushed it back together,.....and the truck started and ran fine. Happened again the other day when just pulling away from a stop.

Has me wondering if this is a common issue. Wondering if maybe I have a bad motor mount and perhaps the engine is moving excessively under acceleration/load causing the hose to separate.

Any suggestions on how to better secure the two sections of air intake hose (assuming my motor mounts are all good).

Sounds to me like you just need to tighten up or replace your band camp. Is there even one on yours? This isn't a problem I've ever heard of before. I'm assuming you're talking about the black air intake that runs from the MAF to the throttle body, that sounds like what you're describing.

+1 on the motor mount. We used to put a block of wood on jack and gently lift the engine via oil pan. If the engine started to lift up and not the vehicle, the mount was gone, I have seen guys, put their brake on, in gear, and give it some gas, and the engine would jump.(I do not recommend). This sounds like what is happening to your vehicle.

Good to know as I always have something needing attention on this one,.....(and all my prior LRs). Did I meet you a few years ago at a Local LR club day at Heavenly Falls? I was driving my Mitsubishi Montero that day,.....I think I had my Disco for sale and didn't want to risk damaging it.

I think you may have come by my house after you purchased a roof rack in San Antonio. We talked for a bit if I remember correctly.

Hmmm, nope, wasn't me. As much as I would like a roof rack/Safari basket; I'm afraid my already horrendous gas mileage would get even worse with one. My last tank of Chevron Premium netted 10.5 mpg in combined highway and around town driving. I was getting closer to 8mpg on one of my prior LRs. Don't know how anyone ever gets 15 mpg,....but there always seems to be someone claiming that on LRforums.com.
