Default Amigo help

04 Disco. Three amigos and brake light are on. Mechanic says need to replace brake sensor and abs modulator based on codes. Two questions: 1. I need new brakes - could that be what is causing the lights? 2. Any harm in not doing the work and just rockin on? Disco drives and brakes fine.

Worn brakes will bring the boys out. Pull the sensor and clean it.

if you need brakes replace em. never buy a modulator they cost more then your truck. rebuild yours. it's easy and fun to do with a case of beer.

I would not trust that mechanic at all, unless he can show you the scanner with the ABS fault codes, cause very few have a scanner capiable of reading the codes and to need to replace the module and speed sensors is too much.
Get a second option from a shop that will read the codes, right there in front of you. If the module is bad, they can be rebuilt for $120 in parts and 2 hours labor.
