Why do you need the 4.6 and what do you plan to use the truck for. Are you planning to do alot of modifications for off road play?

i plan on 1 or 2 a month outing's offroad. i would like to keep it stock, and under warranty. i just figured that with a newer year i would get more of a warranty.I do not really care about he extra hp? the 4.6l has over the 4.0l...any thought's on the warranty stuff?

What ever you buy, try and get an extended warranty to give you a couple more years of coverage.

When I started looking for a Disco I found several sites that said Land Rover "Fixed" a TON of reliability issues (300+ items) between the 2002 and 2003 model years. The extra HP is just a bonus I think. I got an 03 the only thing I regret is not getting an 04. There were just a little too pricy at the time.

Well. I have a 99 D2 and I have to tell you, it has been relativly trouble free, yes I have heard as they progressed they made changes. They are all great trucks.

Yeah, I'm begining to wonder if that whole "Fixing" was really more or less a PR stunt. It seems most people in the forum are driving pre-2003 trucks...and I'm the one will the goofy problems. Oh well.

after much thought and debate with myself i decided to go with a 02 disco. i got it the other day and just love it. been offroad with it twice so far, and wow smile from ear to ear. 45k, se w/ rear ac and warranty for $16k this is more truck than anything else i could have gotten for the same price. i'm in love with my rover!

i have an 02 SD. had 43k miles, i paid 16k for it.

my parents have an 04 SE that had 23k miles and they paid 26k for it.

to ME, it wasn't worth the extra 10,000!!!! they have a sunroof in the back, different headlights, and arm rests. According to consumer reports, between 01 and 02 they also fixed a lot of problems with the disco.
