Mine still has Dexcool in it. I've never had any problems with it, as long as it gets changed every few years.

i am a land rover trained tech,(happy to give show proof) if you are close to a rover dealer, it would be best for your disco to run land rover coolant. It is not a have to but would. Our old d2's are tough but the coolant isn't that much more expensive. Just mix 5050 with distilled h20

wonderful.

now what part of this engine is any different from other engines made with the same materials that run green?
with all the issues that pop up from running dexcool, why is running dexcool or a "land rover" specific coolant better?
looking for an inside scoop since my land rover trained tech source doesnt agree with you.

The only times I have seen factory coolant be an issue is when the owner does not keep on maintenance, my disco has 200k on it, the only coolant it has ever had is land rover coolant. But its flushes have been done when they are supposed to. as for your "rover tech" I would suggest finding someone who actually knows what they are talking about. green coolant is not o.a.t. land rover runs it for a reason, and I'm pretty sure that the engineers that designed it are a lot smarter than you or me. Please do not misunderstand me I am in no way implying that you are not intelligent.

I am convinced that the engineer that designed that cooling system was just playing a practical joke on the world.

My friends at a LR shop are all mystified why I'm running 50/50 Green coolant vs the LR HOAT based stuff. However they have a parking lot full of dead Bosch 4.6L's with HOAT coolant and when you open the hood a lovely coagulated white/pink goo is everwhere. I know why they use it = meeting OEM requirements set by LR, but they also won't touch a Hayden Fan Clutch or Dorman 620-112 Fan Blade either.

To each their own on the coolant they choose (just like the oil debates), but I've used Chevy Astro Van's with DexCool, Jeep's with HOAT, and all my new 03 D2's back in the day and the result was always the same = crap/sediment ended up in the cooling system.
