Audio Frustration
 

Okay i am in a bit of a situation here with my radio.

I disconected my negative battery terminal to change my fuel pump, and when i was finished and restarted, my radio asked for the the radio code.

The code was not written down in the book, and i have an 2002 disco ii with navigation so they asked for the sticker inside the glove box, which is not there.

I can see where it used to be but its gone.

So now The stealership wants 130 + to call land rover and get the code by telling them the serial number.

I went to buy a new deck today, and i found out there is no wiring harness and i would have to pay someone to reroute each speaker or do it myself.

Any ideas here?

the harness is metra part number 70-1786, but you must get a radio with front and rear pre-amp outputs. But before you do that you may want to look around for the code, I have seen them written in the strangest places over the years! also you may want to try a different dealership, cant say for sure but sometimes that helps. have you removed the factory radio yet?

I just went throuh your situation a couple of weeks ago. I called the dealer, they gave me the wrong code for my radio, but were gonna call me back with the correct code (no charge). Well, I know how dealerships can be slow, so I emailed LRNA, and gave them my serial number off my radio ( I had to pull the radio, You need a radio puller tool to do it on my 03). My sticker was missing as well in my glove box. I looked every I could possibly look for a hand written code but to no avail. LRNA emailed and requested my drivers license, proof of insurance so I faxed them the information they were asking for. The next day, I got a call from LRNA and they told me my radio had been replaced, and they gave me the correct code. put the 5 digit code in, and boom it started playing. by the way, the dealership has yet to return my call and give me the proper radio code (I had given them the information off of the serial number located on the side of my radio in my truck as well).

It all worked out well anyway, because when I pulled the radio out of the dash to get the serial number off of it, whoever had prevously installed it did not fully plug the antena wire in all the way into the socket. Now I get way better radio reception. :)

I actually made the suggestion about calling another dealer because I have (dozens of times) re-installed a factory radio for a customer that was selling a car and needed the code, most dealers know in that case that they aren't going to make any money (there is no way my boss or the customer would pay for the code), so they just give it to me (even if they have to look it up). I have also learned many of the places that different dealerships write the code down (LR usually just puts it under hood but you never know!)
