Hi,
what colour should the Automatic Transmission fluid be?
mine is a light brown and seems like its overfilled.
There is no problem with the A.T. I'm just interested to find out how often the fluid should be changed?

93 V8 Discovery.

Here is what I pulled from a website Dan:

Check fluid for color and odor
Transmission fluid is a transparent red oil that looks something like cherry cough syrup. If the fluid is cloudy or muddy, or it has a burned odor, you should have it checked by your technician who will most likely advise you to have a transmission drain and refill or transmission tune-up.

Yours is critically burned and will cause the tranny to fail quickly.
How often have you been changing the fluid.
Red and no burn smell is the only color/smell you want to see.
When was the filter last changed?
I would change it and then do 2 back to back fluid changes to get as much of that crap out of your tranny while you can, THIS weekend.

Having a DI the transmission filter is a huge pain to change.
There is a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission oil sump.
Remove that plug, drain out all the old fluid, replace it with Dexron III, you will need about 6 US quarts.
You will it through the trans dipstick tube.
Start filling ti with the engine off, after you get 4 quarts in start the truck, shift through ALL the gears, twice.
Check the fluid level and then add a pint at a time until full.
Recheck the fluid level after driving for a day.

Actually I've only just bought the Landy.
So I've never changes the fluid.
I'll make it the priority job to change the ATF.

After you change it and the filter, which is a bit of a job, drive it a day and do just a drain and fill to get rid of more of that burned oil.
