Average Engine Temp?

1 Attachment(s)
I just installed my Ultraguage and find that my car runs around 204-206. In almost every situation. The most I have seen is 210 on a hot day going up a hill. But usually its stuck at 206. It seems to be at 206 when its 60F outside or 80F. Doesn't seem right to me but I'm new here. I have read that there is a sensor that turns on a fan at around 204? And that you can get an alternate sensor that is more sensitive and turns on fans at 180? Did i read correctly? Please wise Land Rover Wizards inform me. Thanks as always.

The ECU monitors the same coolant sensor that drives your display and decides when to turn on the electric fan (212F). What you are seeing is that your thermostat is wide open (204+) most of the time. When you encounter additional load the cooling system can't keep up, and temps rise. There is not an alternate temp sensor.

There is a 180F thermostat and you should consider that. After that radiator health should be checked (fins full of mud and leaf mulch), and fins temperature top to bottom to be sure sludge inside is not blocking lower rows.

So, how many miles on your truck, has the radiator or t/stat been replaced before, how about the viscus clutch, ever been tested and replaced? What year is the truck?
