Bad "bump stops" affect how the truck handles a bump?

Here is a picture of one of the bump stops on my 01 SE. Should they be changed out at a certain mileage interval?
Do these things actually contribute to a harder ride on bumps if they get to the point where they are damaged, as mine are? The small "cone" ends are all but gone on both my front stops. Noticed them by accident today.
Curious about these things now... not much of anything shows up on Google. Thanks, Brett

Are you still running the factory shocks and springs?

No. You've probably got something else wrong like a broken or worn out spring, and that's why the bump stop is busted. Under normal driving you aren't going to be hitting the bump stops much.

Over a year ago now, I replaced my shocks. I was told the Monroe sensatrac were ok to use. I think now that the guy was full of it. Has anyone used the sensatrac shocks with success? Or should I think about changing them out again with another "better" brand?
Would love to smooth out the speed bump bangs.
What are people using these days on the D2's?

The Monroe's on stock springs are just fine. It is just your basic shock, so you can expect miracles.
