Default Bad Head?

Hello All,

I acquired an extra set of heads about one year ago. I had them refinished in case I ever needed a set. They have been on the 'spare parts shelf' since then. I pulled them off today and found a series of gashes. Can they still be used? Or do I need to find another head?

As long as they are completely flat. the gasket will seal the sides.

That is what I thought. They are completely flat otherwise.

Not sure. Heads were stored inside a big plastic bin wrapped in plastic and towels. Only other thing I thought of was they could have been damaged on the ride home. Gouges are not deep and otherwise the head is flat.

And that applies to most makes and models not only LR's. Every alloy head on many makes and models seems to be a lottery whether it's good, bad or just indifferent.

Don't worry too much, as long as they are flat and the gouges don't enter the gasket fire ring or cross the oil/waterways they should be OK.
