Belt Tensioner Snapped

As I was driving today I heard a pop and lost power steering. I pull over and see that me belt tensioner has popped off and is destroyed (see pic). Do I have to buy the whole assembly on AB or can I replace it somehow? Also is there an aftermarket option that is metal? I got my license 3 days ago and already it is a Land Rover. Thanks, Tyler 2001 Disco 2 “The Rhino” |

or Go to Atlantic British site they have a kit with the 2 idler pullies. |
You could just replace the tensioner but I would get the idler pullies.

A 1/2 drive 15 mm socket and 3 foot breaker bar make tensioning and tensioning the belt really easy. Check everything the belt touches for resistance, basically check it all spins freely, before you put it back together or order parts just in case something else is seized up.
And replace the belt, keep the old for a spare. My old tensioner pulley was missing a bit of the rim I suspect they get brittle with age. |
You can get a Gates replacement made in Canada which is metal vs the OEM plastic pulley. I think the last one I bought was around 17.00-20.00.
Your LR is 19 years old (almost classic car status) and unless the previous owner replaced a lot of parts keeping up with it parts are just getting old with age/use/weather conditions/time. |

Is this what you were talking about best4x4? Also my dad has had the car since 2006 and has kept up with routine maintenance and has all the work done at a shop. I am hoping to do the work myself to try to save money. |
Yep that's it! Price has dropped since the last time I bought one
