Best gas?

So I've been wondering, does anyone use 89 Ethenol free gas over 93 premium gas? What's the best option?

Tried a bunch of em. Truck likes Exxon premium the best for pep and mileage. Aware that gas is mostly the same, only additives different. But there is a difference, and that's what works best.

Kinda depends on your elevation. At sea level go 93. I run 89 but I am up higher.

I get about 1 m/gal better mileage with 93 (no ethanol) than I do with 87 or 91. Seems to run smoother too but that may just be in my head. Brand does not seem to matter

I run 87 here in Canada and my power or mileage remains same

If you run non premium (87) octane your knock sensors will retard your engine and it will seem normal, but it isn't... you're just used to it running retarded. It takes more than one tank of premium to reset the adaptive values to run on the proper gas.

See the pics in this thread, this is what cheap gas does... https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...se-help-90193/

I totally agree with what was said above. We have always used premium gas and my engine was super clean when I disassembled last month.
Gas here is not the same.

I Had a few discos and ran 91 and 87 don't notice anything different not pinging knocking etc. I don't need power and I don't see any difference in mpg

I only use 91 V-Power from Shell. 91 is the highest octane available in California, otherwise I would be running 92 or 93.

You didn't notice because the engine is controlled by a computer programmed to make sure you don't notice the effects of lower than optimum fuel. It's a design feature programmed into the ECU to allow the vehicle to operate in various conditions. The ECU is programmed for optimum performance and efficiency using 92 octane premium as stated in the owners manual and at the fill location.

Compensating for low quality fuel comes at a cost. Those costs are well documented in general but specific to the LR V8 lower octane fuel burns hotter. Generally we are all trying to get these trucks to run cooler. Less efficiency. Lower MPG, More heat. Lose Lose Lose. Oh yeah, and sludge from lack of detergent or just a sooty burn like when you get the gas mix wrong when OXY welding.

Go cheap if you want but accept the consequences knowingly.
